During my 13 years there I had the opportunity to be a part of the development of the current Presidential airplane, the 737, 757, 767, and the 777. Finding myself wondering if there was something more to be had in the world, I made the natural transition from turbine engines to implantable medical devices. Today I am an engineering manager for Medtronic working on defibulators, pace makers, and neuro stimulators. I live in the Phoenix area on my little ranch in the middle of town with my 17 year old daughter and my three horses. Married an Englishman in 1984 but couldn't take the cold weather. It didn't take much to convince him to move to sunny Florida. We have two boys, Grant 16 who plays offensive guard (6'1", 270 lbs of solid muscle) and Brenan 13 who plays travel soccer. I'm still into horses; own two and take care of three others, work part-time and do some translating in between trail rides." 2/22/05 Leigh Frank Heath "I was active duty during Desert Storm. Did not stay active though. Live and work for the state of Virginia, working for Prince William County schools. Have the summers off--about 10 weeks. Get paid while I'm off--that's nice. Three unique children. My two boys are 21, and 16. My daughter is 13. Chris, 21, is just like a 1960's beatnick. Brad, 16, is very athletic and has too many girlfriends. Caitlyn is 13 and thinks she's 21. She is a state finalist for the National American Miss pageant. She's on the school dance team, and plays clarinet, and bass clarinet. I have 2 children (Autumn & Josiah) and am now a stay at home Mom during the day & a Partylite Sales Consultant in the evenings (candle sales.) In 1993 I asked Jesus to be my Lord & Savior & have been a Born Again Christian ever since! He introduced me to my husband one month after I accepted His will for my life instead of trying to do it on my own. Now I have a wonderful family both at home and with the church-Calvary Chapel as well as the assurance that I will be spending Eternity in Heaven! That's the best thing that has happened to me in the last 20 years. I didn't know a lot of people in my class of 1980 since I came to Balboa halfway through our senior year but there are a few people I would love to see again. I actually knew more people from my brother's class 1981 and the ROTC gang. If I don't make it for the reunion, I hope you all have a great time!" 3/19/00 Michele Gerchow O'Halloran "After graduation I moved to Colorado then decided the cold was not for me. I was in the Persian Gulf during the war, I went to Honduras, Korea, Guam, Australia, Spain, UK, Begium, Kuwait, Baharain, many more countries, oceans, seas, canals and straits. Went through the Panama Canal by ship in 1988, and three times through the SUEZ canal during the Gulf War. All this between 1986-1991. Got back to the states. Paid off some bills, saw more parts of the world, and took a job on Saipan in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariannas Islands, where I landed a job with the Airlines, and lived on the island for 5 years, and where I finally got married to a nice wonderful lady from the Philippines. Put in for a transfer for Houston, and here WE are. So I am still with the Airlines, and wife is working for the Hotel industry. "I left Mariangeli (Mari) Miranda "I would have been a member of the BHS Class of ’80 had I stayed in Panama but my father was in the USAF and he was transferred to Maxwell AFB, Alabama. I spent my junior year at Prattville High school. Then we moved again to Tampa, Florida while my dad was stationed at MacDill AFB and I was a senior at Leto High School. I got a scholarship to go to Yale and graduated in 1984 with a degree in Spanish Literature and what would be considered a minor in British Studies. After several unsatisfying jobs, I pursued an acting career for the better part of nine years. I did have one tiny role in a kid’s movie, COP ‘N A HALF and I am credited as a stunt woman for those ten seconds of glory! I now work as a secretary for a senior executive in the planning department at a major motion picture studio in Hollywood, CA. I am still involved in community theater and tend to get cast in soprano roles in musicals. The funny thing is I couldn’t sing worth a lick back in high school. Now I have an operatic type voice due to some serious voice training. Nothing could have surprised me more! My current role: Golde in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. I’m single and never been married but I have a bunch of nephews to spoil. My mother still lives in Tampa but my dad passed away this February. I’d love to hear from any one who remembers me from my days at St. Mary’s Parochial School, Curundu Junior High School and Balboa High School. Those were some three long years in the Zone!" 6/12/06

Edwin Ortiz "After graduating, I went to Puerto Rico with my parents, played some baseball but threw my arm out so I joined the Air Force in January 1982. Retired from the Air Force on 1 Sept 2005 and became a Contractor working in Central Command at Macdill AFB (Tampa, Florida) as an Intelligence Analyst. While in Panama, I lived on Fort Clayton and was good friends with Dwight Hodgens. We still keep in touch, he is back in Panama now." 11/21/05 Billy O'Sullivan "Took in a semester at PCC before my parents retired/moved us to Tampa, FL. homes. Recently engaged and working on having a full house in near future. Looking forward to the next reunion."
3/3/02 Kaye Richey "After graduating in 1980, I continued my Terminal Technology degree at CZC/PCC. Did four years there before they ran out of courses. I left to USF in Tampa and realized it was too cold. Went back to Panama for my dad’s retirement a year later and found a job with the Army. Ended up staying until 1999 and witnessed lots of changes, but rolled with it. I made lots of new friends throughout those years, hanging out with the likes of Johnny Hern, Chili McArthur, Marco Robinson and TY. Played tons of softball, drove my jeep into the ground and fished with the Gary Abbott almost weekly. I lived in Cocoli between Mikey Young and Jimmy Wiese for the last 8 years, so it was anything but boring. Luckily my maid continued to clean up after my mess. Not to be outdone by Richard, I married a youngster named Cathy Nelson from Gamboa. She was class of 1980-something (read 9) just like Diana. We married in 1995 and have two kids: Matthew, age 9 and Laura, age 5. We’re working on a third. No plans on trying to keep up with the Grimison’s in the kids department, though. We left Panama in ’99 when US Army South moved to Eastern Dominican Republic. Stayed there for 5 years enjoying the weather and the beaches, but hating the traffic and the attitudes. Last year (2004), the Army moved again to San Antonio, where we now reside. Cathy’s sister (who married Kenny Fearon) lives an hour away, so it’s nice having family around for a change. Although I travel to Central and South America monthly for work, I’m still keeping an eye on Panama for keeps. Someday… So…not as exciting as Frankie’s life, but fun all the same.” Feb 2005 Amy Rivera Ellis "Working!!! No, really left Panama in 1986 moved to Charleston, SC then moved to Gainesville, Fl. My Mom, brother Ivan, Ricky, & Ronnie still live in CHAS, SC. Cindy & Andy live in Virginia. David (unknown whereabouts) if you know tell us!! Joanne is moving back to California, lives in Houston right now. Linda lives in Geneva Switzerland. Dad's in Puerto Rico." (Amy has daughters Monica 17 & Emily 7.) 3/13/00 Mark Robinson "Work for Varian Oncology Systems. Fishing and Diving." 8/4/99 Roland Rodriguez "I graduated from Georgia Tech in 84 and missed my graduation ceremony so I could marry Leila, a beautiful Puerto Riqueña. No graduation ceremony could compare to BHS 80. Remember the parachute on Bondurant's head? I'd give anything for a picture. Anyhow, I went back to Tech-Georgia not Chorrillo-for my MSEE and moved to Ft. Worth TX. We have four beautiful, intelligent, and witty Texan girls: Michelle (14), Melissa (12), Monica (10), and Madeline (8). We've been living in Round Rock, TX which is just outside of Austin since 92. I was in the military defense industry until last December when I started working for Dell Computers as engineering development manager in the performance notebook line. A couple of years ago I got a set of bongos and last year I got some congas so I've been learning to play them in the little spare time I can find. Last year I joined the Knight of Columbus to get more involved with helping the community." 9/01 Eva Foster-Roman "After Balboa, joined the Army, got out in 84, am still in the Reserves and work for the Federal Goverment (The Pentagon) for the Inspector General's Office (Army). Have a daughter, Shel, who's 3 years old. Live in Virginia...for now." 8/2001 Lourdes Royo Genier Since I graduated from BHS in 1980, I got married, divorced, and remarried. Have been for 14 years. I'm living in Canada, Calgary, Alberta, to be specific. Have two beautiful children, a boy 12, Steven and a girl 8, Kazsandra (who is going to turn me grey when she becomes a teenager.) Both of my kids are heavy in to sports. Steven plays top division of whatever sport he is playing (hockey, soccer, or lacrosse) and Kazsandra she is middle of the pack (hockey or soccer.) I have been working for a company called "General Dynamics Canada" for the past 11 years and loving it. My job is very demanding but I get to travel. I also teach aerobics and coach soccer. I try to get back to Panama at least once every three years to see my mother, sister, and family who are still living in Panama. I miss Panama very much especially the nice hot weather since here we freeze 6 months of the year, but the skiing is beautiful. Who would guess that I would become a skier. I began a career in dental technology in 1982, married my wife Kim in 84. We bought a little house in Allen Texas and have watched this small town explode with new growth. We have two boys Ryan 11, and Collin 8 who are a lot less trouble than I was at their age. Work, school, and soccer consume our daily lives. In 1997 we built a new home here in Allen and plan on being here for awhile." 2/27/00 Mike Scott "Hanging out overseas." 5/10/00 Mike Seitz "Attended PCC for 2 years graduated, moved to North Dakota for a year. After finishing my last 2 years of high school in PA, I went on to graduate from Penn State in 1984. I lived a fun single life in Atlanta for 11 years then went to visit Mike Vizcarra (BHS ''79) in San Diego. I fell in love with him (and San Diego), so we got married and lived in San Diego for 2 years, before moving to various Naval bases all over the US and Japan. After turning over his command at VFA-102 (NAS Atsugi, Japan) in June of 2004, we moved to Tampa just in time to experience the worst hurricane season in anyone's memory! Mike works at MacDill AFB but is actually a Commander in the Navy. We will celebrate our 11th anniversary this year and have two children, Tori (9) and Nick (7). Since I left Panama near the end of my sophomore year, I'm looking forward to this year's 25th reunion and becoming reacquainted with anyone who even remembers me! :)" 3/02/05 Marianna Tanguy Hetrick "Majored in Jazz Studies at North Texas State for three years then bailed out to learn about myself in Psychology (should of stayed in music).
