TWENTY-FIVE YEAR REUNION
JULY 2005
The Twenty-five year Reunion was held during the annual Panama Canal Society
Reunion in Orlando, Florida on July 1 and 2, 2005. Photos from the reunion
can be found in the Photo Gallery on this site.
The festivities began on Friday, July 1 with a Hospitality Suite at the hotel beginning
at 5 pm that featured an open bar and Panama/CZ style food including Johnny Mazetti, empanandas,
seviche de corvina, La Tablita salad, and plantain chips. Rebecca
Harp made the Johhny Mazetti, Margaret Bivin and Diana Grimison made the
empanadas, Michele Owen made the La Tablita salad, and authentic Panamanian
Seviche de Corvina was brought from Panama (carried frozen in a cooler
bag on the plane!) All of the food was delicious! Thanks also
to Bobbee Sue Weigle, Danny Coffey, John Corrigan, and Donna Malin for bringing
the supplies, booze, beer keg, and plantain chips respectively! Bernadette
Valle Laug, owns a T-shirt company and she hooked us up with some awesome
shirts. She did the design for the front which is shown on this page in
the upper left corner and her brother Gerard did the design for the back, shown
upper right.
Kaye-Boy
Richey put together a DVD with photos from High School that we played on the TV
in the suite including many of those posted on this web site as well as others
he resurrected from his archives!
Danny Coffey supplied the sound system for the suite and kept the tunes cranking!
The atmosphere in the suite was set with decorations such as Panama Beer posters
and a turntable with a collection of records from the '70's and 80's. Many
of us had fun explaining to our kids that this was how we used to listen to
music! Attendees took a moment to reflect on a poster where we had the
name tags with photos for those members of our Class who have departed this
earth before us. The Hospitality Suite wound down around 10 pm and
many alumni went on to participate in some of the Society events such as the Panazonian Dance and the Late Night Dance.
On Saturday, July 2, the Class held a Dinner/Dance with live entertainment
provided by "The Funk Junkys." The
evening began at 4:30 pm for cocktails, class photo at 4:50 pm, dinner from 5 pm to 6 pm and live
entertainment from 6 to 8:30 pm.
Billy
O'Sullivan, an Air Force Chaplain, led us in a Blessing before our meal. Carl Orvis did a
great job as Master of Ceremonies and presented awards for categories that only
the Class of 80 could come up with! Click here
to see who won the awards! We also took a moment to recognize those alumni
in attendance who are currently serving or had previously served in the
military.

Billy O. & Carl
Alumni received the Zonian Yearbook update that
was put together by Kathy Newbury and all the goodies on the table centerpieces,
including Panama hats, cuna scarves, tembleques, little chiva buses, mini
bottles of rum and seco, and chinese plums were won according to what seat you
were sitting in! Many thanks to Yvonne Cooper, Sue Kelleher, Margaret
Bivin, & Kaye Richey for providing the supplies for the centerpieces and to
Yvonne for putting them together!

Table centerpieces doubled as door prizes!
The dance floor filled up as the band played many classic
rock tunes accompanied by the latin rhythms of Jaime Rheberg's congas. Again the
party continued after the class festivities wound down as alumni went on to the
Society dances.

On the dance floor!
